Function Description (English)

ZS-DERA: It can efficiently catalyze the stereoselective addition of donor ketones to acceptor aldehydes. In addition, the reaction can be carried out in aqueous solution at neutral pH without special protective measures. DERA belongs to Class I aldolases. A Schiff base is formed during catalysis, where the substrate covalently binds to the amino group in the active site to trigger bond cleavage and formation. DERA differs from other aldolases in that its substrates are aldehydes and it can perform sequential aldol condensation reactions.
