Cod UNG (Thermolabile Uracil-DNA Glycosylase from Atlantic Cod)
Thermolabile uracil-DNA glycosylase derived from Atlantic Cod efficiently hydrolyzes uracil present in single-stranded or double-stranded DNA to generate abasic sites. Cod UNG exhibits no activity toward RNA and is mainly used for PCR carryover contamination prevention.
Overview:
Cod UNG is a recombinant uracil-DNA glycosylase from Atlantic Cod, a thermolabile enzyme for molecular biology research and diagnostics. Its key feature is high activity at low temperatures, followed by rapid, complete and irreversible inactivation upon heat treatment. Unlike other commercially available UNG enzymes, Cod UNG will not reactivate after heat inactivation. It eliminates PCR carryover contaminants without degrading subsequent PCR products, enabling downstream applications of PCR amplicons.
Cod UNG cleaves the N-glycosidic bond between deoxyribose and uracil bases in DNA and leaves abasic sites in DNA, while showing no activity on uracil in RNA.
Applications:
The thermolabile UNG from Atlantic Cod is fully and irreversibly inactivated after incubation at 55℃ for 5 min. Therefore, Cod UNG can be added into PCR master mix prior to amplification. Incubation at 25℃ for 10 min removes residual PCR amplicons. Subsequent denaturation at 94℃ during PCR cycles inactivates the enzyme and will not interfere with the generation of new dU-containing PCR products.

• Elimination of PCR carryover contamination
Features:
• Thermolabile
• Fully irreversible inactivation
• Superior performance in qRT‑PCR and qPCR
