Product Code: — Enzyme Class: Oxidoreductases No.: 2/32
Function Description (English)
Ketoreductase, also known as carbonyl reductase, is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible redox reaction between aldehydes/ketones and alcohols, requiring cofactors such as NADH or NADPH as hydride carriers. KREDs are mainly divided into three categories: short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDRs), medium-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (MDRs) and aldo-keto reductases (AKRs). The three share similar catalytic functions but differ greatly in structure and properties.
